I'm Kenda Laverty, one of the managers of Mulberry Bush by Wee Care in Coleraine where I have proudly served for 28 years. I have a degree in social care, childhood and youth studies, as well as a spectrum of qualifications in management and child development—including expertise in child psychology and counselling—I am deeply committed to the well-being and growth of the children under our care.
As one of the designated Child Protection Officers, I hold certifications in Paediatric First Aid, Fire Safety, Food Hygiene, and Safety, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for every child.
My affinity for children has been a lifelong passion, igniting from my earliest memories to the present day. I firmly believe that each child is a unique individual who brightens our days, even during their most challenging moments, where they inspire us to be our best selves.
Drawing from both personal and professional experiences as a mother of two and grandmother to four, I've cultivated a profound understanding of family dynamics and child development. This background enables me to provide empathetic support to our families and to guide and empower our dedicated staff.
I’m Ruth Beattie one of the managers of Mulberry Bush by Wee Care in Coleraine. I started my journey with Mulberry as a student while pursuing my Level 5 HND in Advanced Practice in Work with Children and Families. Initially, I worked as a Nursery Assistant and after completing my BA Hons Degree in Early Childhood Studies at Stranmillis University, I took on the role of Deputy Manager. I have served nine years at Mulberry, five of which I held the position of Deputy Manager before being promoted to Manager.
I am also one of the Designated Child Protection Officers and have obtained certifications in Paediatric First Aid, Fire Safety, Food Hygiene, Health & Safety, Safeguarding, Anaphylaxis Awareness & EpiPen and Managing Concerns & Complaints, ensuring we provide a safe and nurturing environment for our children.
My passion for working with children has been a driving force throughout my life and career. As a manager, this passion influences my leadership style, which is characterised by patience, purpose and a strong emphasis on fostering environments where children feel safe, supported and encouraged to thrive.
At Wee Care we believe that the first years of a child’s life are fundamentally important. These are the cornerstone years that shape a child’s future.
We believe that children grow, learn and develop rapidly when they receive love, warmth, attention, encouragement, mental stimulation and nutritious well-balanced meals, with this in mind we promote in all of our nurseries:
"All the girls there are lovely and do and excellent job, would highly recommend."
